چکیده
AIM To investigate the clinicopathological features of the patients testing negative for high titer serum antiHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori ) antibody. METHODS The antibody titers were measured using antigens 1419 April 7, 2018|Volume 24|Issue 13| WJG|www.wjgnet.com ORIGINAL ARTICLE Helicobacter pylori infection in subjects negative for high titer serum antibody Retrospective Cohort Study Osamu Toyoshima, Toshihiro Nishizawa, Masahide Arita, Yosuke Kataoka, Kosuke Sakitani, Shuntaro Yoshida, Hiroharu Yamashita, Keisuke Hata, Hidenobu Watanabe, Hidekazu Suzuki Submit a Manuscript: http://www.f6publishing.com DOI: 10.3748/wjg.v24.i13.1419 World J Gastroenterol 2018 April 7; 24(13): 1419-1428 ISSN 1007-9327 (print) ISSN 2219-2840 (online) derived from Japanese individuals. C-urea breath test-positive individuals were defined as having H. pylori infection. We investigated the demographic characteristics, laboratory data, endoscopic findings including Kyoto classification of gastritis, and histology in negative-high titer patients without H. pylori eradication therapy. Kyoto classification consisted of scores for gastric atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, enlarged folds, nodularity, and redness. RESULTS Of the 136 subjects enrolled, 23 (17%) had H. pylori infection. Kyoto classification had an excellent area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (0.886, 95% confidence interval: 0.803-0.968, P = 3.7 × 10) for predicting H. pylori infection with a cutoff value of 2. Further, Kyoto classification, H. pylori density, and neutrophil activity had high accuracies (89.7%, 96.3%, and 94.1%, respectively). Kyoto classification was independent of the demographic and laboratory parameters in multivariate analysis. CONCLUSION Endoscopic Kyoto classification of gastritis is a useful predictor of H. pylori infection in negative-high titer antibody patients.

Evaluation of Serum Interleukin-18 levels in Helicobacter Pylori-infected Peptic Ulcer Patients and its Association with Bacterial CagA Virulence Factor
Background: Helicobacter pylori infection is one of the most common gastrointestinal infections worldwide. Predominant T-helper 1 (Th1) responses with increased gamma interferon (IFN- γ) levels have been proposed to play an important role in H. pylori-induced peptic ulcer. However, bacterial factors contributing to the initiation of Th1 polarization of H. pylori-specific immune responses have n...

Background: Infertility is a worldwide problem. Many different factors may cause infertility. Among them, bacterial infection of the reproductive system is one of the main factors. Recently, some limited investigation has revealed that H. pylori is capable of causing genital inflammation that may lead to infertility. Although known to be a causative agent of gastritis and duodenal ulcers, this ...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori Antibody Titer and Gastric Cancer Screening
The "ABC method" is a serum gastric cancer screening method, and the subjects were divided based on H. pylori serology and atrophic gastritis as detected by serum pepsinogen (PG): Group A [H. pylori (-) PG (-)], Group B [H. pylori (+) PG (-)], Group C [H. pylori (+) PG (+)], and Group D [H. pylori (-) PG (+)]. The risk of gastric cancer is highest in Group D, followed by Groups C, B, and A. Gro...

A high prevalence of antibody to cag A has been observed in H. pylori seropositive patients (HP+) living in developed countries. This is felt to be correlated with the development of serious sequelae of this infection. We examined the sero-prevalence of antibody to cag A and other specific H. pylori antigens in symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals living in Kashan.Sera from 37 patients who...
متن کاملDeclining trends in prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection by birth‐year in a Japanese population
Gastric cancer incidence and mortality have been decreasing in Japan. These decreases are likely due to a decrease in prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection. Our aim was to characterize the trends in prevalence of H. pylori infection focused on birth-year. We carried out a cross-sectional study that included 4285 subjects who were born from 1926 to 1989. We defined H. pylori infection by t...
